Education Is Central to Democracy
We must strengthen education in Oregon from pre-K through college, while making college more affordable. All our schools must be able to attract and retain good teachers. As a member of the House Education Committee, I work with school districts and education advocates to find and implement best practices and innovative school solutions. I will continue to fight to protect schools from crippling budget cuts.

As the father of an University of Oregon student, the husband of an educator, and an entrepreneur in a research related field, I see how the lack of state support negatively affect everything from class size to tuition. Our goal must be to strenghten education in Oregon while making college more affordable.

Good Health for Oregonians
Good, affordable healthcare is a basic for a strong society. If we can't care for our kids, who are we anyway? As a business owner I search for decent coverage for my employees and my family, but in the end, we all care for – and pay for - our uninsured neighbors too. As Vice Chair of the Health Care Committee I've worked to make basic healthcare accessible to all Oregonians. I'm especially proud to have helped pass House Bill 2009 which helps children and the uninsured -and thus all of us.

Business Fuels Our Future
I started a software business in my living room that's now a national leader in its field with a reputation for solving problems and delivering on promises. I bring that same approach to Salem where we must combine existing resources with innovative ideas to create new jobs and new solutions to the challenges we face.

Kicker Reform
I believe we should reform, or better yet, eliminate our state's kicker law. As a business owner, If I tried to operate the way our state does I would have been out of business long ago. During economic growth periods we should save money for leaner times.
